Cadets of the Capital Guardian Youth Challenge Academy Class 63 receive their diplomas upon completion of a 22 week-long “quasi-military" course, during a residential phase commencement ceremony at the University of the District of Columbia, Dec.13, 2024. Since 2013, the mission of the program is to intervene in and reclaim the lives of at-risk youth, and produce program graduates with the values, skills, education, and self-discipline necessary to succeed as adults.

'Hey, Navy! We have your goat': DCNG Army-Navy Game Spirit Video 2024
More than 450 members of the District of Columbia National Guard, Maryland National Guard, Virginia National Guard, National Guard Bureau (NGB), various DoD partners, D.C. Government Operations-DCNG, Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs, and ROTC programs participated in a 5-mile holiday toy ruck in partnership with Children’s National Hospital, in Washington, D.C., Dec. 7, 2024. Participants were asked to bring a toy or purchase one. Additional donations were collected during a holiday toy drive at the D.C. Armory and the Herbert R. Temple Jr. Army National Guard Readiness Center (TARC), and later presented to children who will spend the holidays at the Children’s National Hospital.

The DC National Guard Counterdrug Program partnered with the DEA and Metropolitan Police Department for National Prescription Take Back Day at multiple locations in Washington, D.C., on October 26, 2024. Take Back Day encouraged community members to prevent medication misuse by clearing out their medicine cabinets. By participating, the DC National Guard aimed to foster a healthier, drug-free environment for all.

Andonie, commanding general (Interim), D.C. National Guard, amongst other awards to include a retirement letter from Mayor Muriel Bowser for Foreman's support to military operational readiness, security and service to Washingtonians.

Approximately 50 Alaska National Guard service members, volunteers from the Salvation Army, AKNG Child and Youth Program and others visited the southeastern Alaskan city of Yakutat, Dec. 18, 2024. Operation Santa Claus, a longstanding annual community outreach program of the AKNG, has provided gifts such as toys, backpacks, and books to children in remote Alaskan communities since 1956.
